What is current support for dolby vision

Server Version#: 1.40.1.8227
Player Version#: latest Plex on LG

Hello, I currently use the plex app on lg and all my Dolby vision file fallback to HDR, I would like to know if any fix is planned or if I should buy a different streaming device.

All my dolby vision file are profile 8 in an mkv container.

Hdr format : Dolby Vision, Version 1.0, dvhe.08.06, BL+RPU, HDR10 compatible / SMPTE ST 2086, HDR10 compatible

The Plex LG app likes DV video in a MP4 or TS container. Were you to play a DV profile 5 video in a MKV container, the colors would be noticeably off.

I’ve no idea if the limitation is with LG or Plex, but that is why you’re getting HDR10 instead of DV.

Likely LG.
There are too many devices and platforms. Plex client generally by default relays files into the manufacturer provided video engine.

Confused why this is tagged appletv when it appears to have nothing to do with appletv.

Do Apple TV Plex app have better dolby vision support ?

That’s an LG limitation. Get a shield pro and be done.

Better, from what I’ve read, probably, if you use Infuse.
Perfect? no, nothing does.
