What is the best way to share Plex with my friends?

Server Version#: 1.28.2.6151
Player Version#: 4.87.2

I’ve had PLEX for several years, and I’ve successfully shared my library with folks, but they are frequently telling me they tried to access it, but it wasn’t available, even though they had been able to in the past. I’m not really sure the best way to set sharing up. I know you use the feature grant library access and send them an email. I can usually get them connected, however, staying connected seems to be an issue.

I get totally confused when it comes to remote access, port forwarding, etc. However, I do know how to access my router, if it’s necessary to do some configuration on it.

I get the “Not available outside your network” message within seconds after enabling remote access. I can uncheck Manually specify public port, but it soon appears checked anyway with the port # 32400 in the field.

I don’t think I have a double NAT situation. My WAN IP: 75.82.176.207. I read somewhere that that IP address indicates I do not have a double NAT problem.

My router supports the “UPnP” feature and it’s enabled.

Finally, does the person I’m sharing with you need to configure their router as well?

Thanks in advance…!

Eureka!
I actually figured it out after watching a couple YouTube videos. It never occurred to me to look on YouTube for specific Plex questions, but it was very helpful in this case. I had to watch a couple to filter out the stuff that didn’t apply to me, but I was able to figure out the port forwarding and set up a static IP and all that good stuff and I’m green across the board.
Let’s consider this post closed, shall we… Thanks to everybody anyhow!
