I tried to change my password using the web browser, after I got the hacked email.
When I did, it said “Invalid Password”, not sure if that was for old or new, be nice if it had ANY indication. So I tried again, same issue.
Now, I can’t log into the web version and at all. Says password wrong an too many attempts blah blah.
I can still get to the Linux Plex server on the linux box, but I assume I dare not log out or will never get on. I tried linking a google address (the one I’m using now to post this), and that didn’t work either.
I tried changing the password from server interface, got the same “Invalid Password” baloney, again is that the old or the new?
No reset link has showed up ever, assuming that’s a plex issue and even if I get one it won’t work until stuff is fixed.
So, am I just dead til this all works itself out and can eventually get a reset link?
If you got this message then your IP got blocked temporarily. These go away after an hour.
Our system is busy sending out the reset emails, please be patient. Did you try using the link in the email, that should allow you to change your password as well.
What it actually says is
The username or password is incorrect. Repeated attempts may temporarily disable sign in.
Using, original, and failed changed new password.
And, through the “server” web server when you try to change it (In Account/Security), still says “INVALID PASSWORD”, but doesn’t tell you which one IS invalid.
Ah I just checked your account. You are using a linked Google account so you DO NOT have a password with Plex, so there is no need to change it. If you’d like to add a password, you’ll need to use the forgot password feature which will then allow you to set a new password.
I just did the linked account today, to see if I could get to my plex server, which i can’t, nor could I share it with this account, because the email hasn’t gone out.
I had to use THIS account to use the support forum because my other account is locked out/password broke because of the hack, no reset email, etc etc etc.
PM me the email address of your main account so I can check it.
