Boy, I am not doing something right. I am trying to a very simple test. Here is my DS1817 Volume1 folder structure starting at Media. I only placed a few tv shows (movies .m4v) into each season for now.
And here is how I created my library and associated folders….
I have gone back to the DS and made sure that the Parent folder ‘Media’ has given permissions to all users and that those permissions are applyed to that folder and all sub-folders and files.
And that is why you are using FileBot to rename them correctly. I bought and downloaded it to my Mac and placed a few movies in there and they selected the renames, but when I went to save them into a folder, it said that FileBot did NOT have permission. Do I have to add FileBot as a user to the DS1817 and give it permissions just like the rest?
Actually, I did use FileBot to rename them and followed instructions from FileBot to allow permissions and it did find the 4 episodes. Now trying to do the rest of the season
I suggest you try to be more careful about calling all media ‘movies’.
Movies and tvs shows are not the same thing, so when you refer to tv shows as movies, it becomes confusing about what you are actually trying to talk about.
movies
tv shows
episodes
home movies, or personal movies (like from a video camera, not hollywood movies)
porn
music
these are all different types of content, and the specific type and the file organization matters.
PMS is a lot to take in.
Learning how to “drive” the NAS is an art unto itself!
Take your time. Everything can easily be moved around without losing information on the Syno.
(we can reorganize it easily) if you want to make changes.
I was in the process of trying to enable remote access and now I can’t even get on it. I checked the packages on the DS and it says that Plex is running.
But I am getting this when I try to get into the Server….
