Your Firestick won’t connect to your Plex server? Are you getting any sort of error messages?
Yes. Error message is : “Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection”. I get all that millenial crap like podcasts etc. but it wont connect to my server.
The Fire stick is connected. I can see it and ping on my router. The fire stick is on a meshed network with over 100 Mbps connection. All other apps ( Netflix, Espn, Showtime, HD Homerun ) etc work perfectly even when running VPN. HD homerun is an internal server similar to Plex and it connects with no issues.
And before VPN gets blamed I have tried it when on and off and I never had trouble before when it was on…
Other than the meaningless user interface changes which is making it worse in my opinion the server worked fine for over a year now. My current version is 4.8.4 . The only changes I made is a recent update I allowed to the Plex server which I usually block because I don’t believe in fixing what don’t need fixed. It was working fine but for some reason I cant think of right now I violated one of my cardinal rules and updated. Otherwise absolutely nothing has changed.
I also tried my friends new 4k stick thinking mine might have died but it didn’t connect either. I have Roku in the bedroom but I haven’t tested it yet,
Ok, so can anything else at all connect to the plex server? Like your cellphone or a Tablet, or another computer also on the network? Any other device besides the device the server is running on?

So, I need the network topology for the Roku
and the network topology for the FireStick
ie Are they both connected to the same wifi from the same source? You said it was a Mesh network, but is the firestick connected to the mesh while the roku is connected to a particular router?
They are both connected to the same remote device on a 5g mesh network. I have tried going to a basic 2.4 g and 5g network with no change on the Firestick. Roku works on all
Both the Roku and Firestick worked just fine up until a few days ago until I updated the Plex server. Roku works fine but Firestick wont connect.
This is not my first rodeo on setting up Plex servers. I set up two friends of mine with no issues so I am over looking something.
Are there any known issues with the Firestick or the 4K versions?
Nope, in fact 3 of my tv’s are rocking various firesticks and firestick 4K’s… and all are working… There is however the UNO interface to consider. When you go to “More” along the left column on the firestick, and you select your server, does it show your libraries? Or is that when you get your error message?
As soon as I click on more I get an orange box with my server name in it and a reddish triangle with and exclamation mark. Clicking on that box generates the message “Please verify that the server is running and has a network connection”.
Hmm… Is the Roku using the same account to login as your Firestick?
I figured it out. I don’t know how it got changed but in advanced Plex settings I turned on “allow insecure connections from same network”.
This fixed my friends 4k stick issue as well.
