When 2 films are in 2 different libraries, the dashboard displays 2 tiles of that film)

Hi team,

When there is a same film (same names) in two different libraries, the dashboard displays 2 identical tiles for ongoing films. To reproduce it, create 2 libraries which have difference storage paths, then put the same film in both folders and refresh the 2 libraries. Then play the film (no matter the collection) and pause it, go back to the dashboard and verify the tiles. you’ll see duplicated tiles for that film. It seems that the dashboard displays the tiles based on the film name, regardless the library.

Gregory

Correct.

Also the 2 films share the same status in the 2 libraries. For exemple if a film is set as “Viewed”, the same film in the other library becomes “viewed” also.

this is ‘normal’ for plex.

but yes, extremely annoying.

what is the point of separate libraries if they get linked on continue playing/play status.

all that said, you can work around it by either;

  • unmatching, then re-matching using different metadata providers, for existing content
  • make sure the libraries have different metadata providers selected should help avoid the linking for future content.
