When changing music tracks, player will permanently bug out and require force quit

Server Version#: 1.25.7.5604
Player Version#: 8.31.0.31215 (6f5d4f5e)

I use the Plex Android TV client on a Chromecast with Google TV device to listen to my music library while on the treadmill. Although I am using the beta client, this issue has been haunting me for over a year now, so it is likely not related to the beta.

As I am changing tracks, occasionally I will hit a track where it bugs out and throws a playback error, and then the Plex app will keep skipping through all tracks in my library throwing the same error over and over again. Even if I stop playback, return to the dashboard, go into music library, and play again – no luck, the playback is permanently bugged. I have to either reboot the Google TV, or, go into the app list and do a force quit on the Plex app in order to get playback working again. The issue always occurs at the very beginning of a track and never once it has actually started playing. I would say I encounter this problem 2-3 times in the course of one workout, so it is not infrequent, and I can easily reproduce it by putting my library on shuffle and skipping tracks until it bugs. Although I usually encounter the issue when I’m skipping past songs I don’t want to listen to, I have also seen it occur when a track ended and the player moved on its own to the next track.

While it might be easy to rule it off as a bad/damaged mp3 file that is crashing the player, the interesting thing is that the track that triggered the bug will play just fine if I go back into the app in play it after doing the force quit. All of my music files work fine in every other player I use them with too. I curate my library very carefully to make sure all the file encodings and ID3 tags are up to spec. All of my files are mp3 format.

Thanks for any help you can offer.
