When is the next release (fix) coming out?

I think we have all had enough of this new Version 1.0.0.2261 and its plethora of problems. I think I’ve spent more hours fixing things on this release than all other releases combined. I don’t know about anyone else but my collection is way too large to have to go and correct all of the problems this has introduced with file identification, new naming issues, remote connectivity issues, servers hangs, etc etc etc…

totally agree, by far the more unstable version in months… :frowning: Lots of problems with remote and LOCAL clients
If you add that they have removed previous versions…
Not really happy and not understanding many decisions from Plex guys from a while…

Plex should add a beta testing phase for just “wife” and “kids” test cases, so they can experience the fallout of each upgrade firsthand around the dinner table.

id at least like an acknowledgment to the issues, doesnt appear to be any official support here

once i upgraded the tv could no longer see the server, a roll back has fixed this problem so far, not noticed issues with media as yet

Although I generally agree I must point out, “An update to buggy software is in someways missing the point”.

Having been in software development for over 30 years there is one thing you learn over & over again from day 1, “Never ever release anything that was not thoroughly tested!”. With all the problems being reported some real some not so. it should be obvious to Plex they have a serious quality control issue.

In addition to real bugs the Plex developers caused problems and confusion all by themselves:

Take all the recent problems with remote access as an example. While we tried to help each other for the fix to the problem we kept hearing that the problem was not Plex. I can tell you from experience any software that shows a problem is always the one to get blamed for the problem. No amount of saying it’s not our problem alters the fact that something changed between prior version of Plex Server and the current release but we the using public were not given any heads-up on those situational changes. Not even a peep about a possible problem.

Somethings for Plex to think about;
how we currently test a new version,
never rush to get it out the door,
always have a way to revert back to an older more stable release should the need arise.

One question I have for Plex is do you have an Alpha followed by a Beta test program(s)?

I sure you will find plenty of users that would gladly participate in a Beta program. You only have to develop the program and then ask your user community to participate.

They already have a bunch of people in a Beta program. You are in it. So am I. So is everyone posting in this topic. They have many, many more, too. Figured out who they are yet?

I’m happily sitting on 9.16. It’s worked so far and I’ve not had any issues. I was going to take the plunge today and upgrade but opt’ed not to after reading this forum. I’ve imaged my server, so in case I decided I want to take the plunge I can quickly revert.

Having the same problems noticed today that my The Outer Limits (1995) Season 1 is out of sync with metadata and naming of episodes!!

After upgrading I have no dashboard for libraries marked as TV-Shows. I keep getting this error: There was an unexpected error loading the dashboard.
I’ve tried the “fix” about optimizing the database, but to no avail. Although I can enter the library and see the shows, I have no overview and can’t mark episodes as watched as this produces an error and leaves the show semi watched.

Any ideas?

I have no clue why plex decided to release version 1.0 so quickly after introducing newer transcoder in 0.9.17. I always see issues for a few releases when a new transcoder comes out.

should a 1.0 Version not be rockstable?

Have you noticed that whenever Plex Inc release something that is accompanied by the 'blowing of trumpets" in a Blog update, emailed to all users, that it is always flawed?

I get that we are the ‘beta’ testers for everything, but surely milestone releases for new server/clients/features should not be classed as ‘beta’.

(And how many of those must have ‘killer’ features’ are now disappearing or never quite worked as intended?)

Regards

Try moving one of your shows to another area (not scanned by PMS) and create a new library entry just for that folder. If this works then you will need to re create the whole area you are having issues with from my experience.

The shows themselves work fine. If I enter the library I can watch them, but the dashboard for the library containing the shows doesn’t work. I get database constraint errors in the log, so I think something more serious is wrong
