When on HDMI Audio Source, Audio Only Works for Single Playback

Been using Plex for a long time and recently ran into issue on Plex Player installed on same system as server. Below is the behavior…

The below occurs only when HDMI audio source is selected…

  • Launch Plex and playback a title without issue
  • Start playing any 2nd title and there is no audio
  • Resolution is to close then relaunch Plex Player, but must do this after each single playback as issue repeats itself
  • Does not occur when any other audio device is selected
  • Audio works via HDMI from other apps when issue is occurring in Plex

I’ve attached a log where I did the following steps:

  1. Selected HDMI audio source
  2. Launched Plex and started playing a title - it has audio - then stopped playback after a few seconds,
  3. Started playback again (therefore experiencing issue of no audio)
  4. Stopped playback
  5. Closed Plex

Notes

  • Windows 10 1909 x64
  • Installed to same system as Plex server
  • Uninstalled Plex Desktop, deleted all related files from AppData, then reinstalled but issue persisted
