Server Version#: 1.24.3.5033
Player Version#: 4.0.3 Plexamp Android
Hello,
I was instructed to post here by @Plexamp on Twitter. Basically the issue I am experiencing is I am playing music via Plexamp to a Chromecast Audio and eventually Plexamp no longer shows that the music is playing. I am unable to see the playlist or pause the music via Plexamp. In the Chromecast notification on Android I can apparently pause but not skip tracks. I have Plexamp set to repeat the album (I guess this would actually be a playlist but I listen to albums) when it ends but when I get in this state the music just stops at the last track. I am able to select a new album and it will stop what is playing and play the new album immediately.
I have attached the logs, hopefully someone has an idea for how to solve the issue.
Thank you for the response. The music is still playing right now, I just have no control in Plexamp. I can pull any info that would be useful in figuring this out, just let me know. I wonder if it could be related to hitting back in the Android UI. Disc 2 just started and I do not want to try anything in case there is some useful debugging that I could provide.
Sorry I am a bit confused, what is the remote player in this instance? My Android device would be the player, granted it is casting to my Chromecast audio. My house is a wifi eater and I have multiple WAPs around my house. I probably crossed between the zones. If so then I have an easy way to reproduce at least.
My confusion comes from the fact that my Android device is seemingly still casting as the music is still playing through my receiver. Did Plexamp pass the controls over to something else when the wifi was dropped? In the Plex dashboard on the server it currently shows a Plex Cast stream. Is there a way I can reconnect to control this via Plexamp?
edit:
Since we seemingly have a way to reproduce the issue I just put a new album on with Plexamp on my phone and in the dashboard it shows Plex Cast as the stream. So I guess the question above about reconnecting Plexamp to the Plex Cast is ultimately the answer to my issue.
Yeah that makes sense. After looking at the dashboard it was easy to assume what was going on so thanks for confirming that. So is there any way that I can force it to reconnect or is this something that could possibly be added in a future version?
That did it. I did not even consider doing this because if I selected something else to play it would play over the Chromecast. I am unable to recreate this aspect by forcing my device to disconnect from WiFi. Sometimes when I select the cast button there are duplicates of the devices and that is probably related to my weird WiFi situation. Perhaps Plexamp could remember it was connected to the cast device before WiFi dropped and then it can reconnect when the WiFi reconnects. Really a minor thing though. Please tell the team that Plexamp is awesome. Thank you so much for the help today Elan and have a great rest of your day!
Please thank the team for Plexamp. I find it to be the perfect music app and replacement for Google Play Music.
Actually Plexamp is now the player for my whole home audio system that I cobbled together with some rpi and the snapcast project. I am still in the process of building it out and intend to have Plexamp on Android tablets that I have throughout the house that are mounted to walls to control my home automation stuff. I did see Plexamp now has a headless version, perhaps I could have used that but I dove in to snapcast a few months ago before the headless version existed.
