When will the Vizio app get fixed?

First off, love the product! Although I do not have much need for anything beyond the free options available, I choose to be a paying customer because I feel that this is such a great product and it’s worth it to me.

I was using a Roku unit for access until my tv died. I decided to purchase a Vizio tv specifically due to the built in Plex app.

I’ve noticed that your company is always creating and updating apps for the various platforms, and working hard to bring new features to the customer, which is outstanding!

Unfortunately, the Vizio built in app is terrible! It has menu bugs which make the menu repeat the same listed programs over and over as you scroll, bugs that don’t allow me to use my tv’s volume at all when watching a show or movie and even bugs that don’t ultilize the internet connection, pausing or loading for minutes at a time, or even saying that there is no connection present, when it’s a wired connection and every other app (Netflix, Amazon, etc.) works flawlessly.

I assumed that this would eventually be updated and corrected, but it has been quite a few months since my tv purchase, and I haven’t seen or heard of any progress for these issues at all, leaving me with rather “bad taste in my mouth”. Like I’ve already stated, I LOVE the company, love the products offered, but I would love them even more if they worked correctly! Hopefully there is a remedy for this in the near future!

Easiest way to get things fixed is to report bugs with the steps to reproduce the bug and logs of the app/server when they happen.

I have not heard about these types of problems for the Vizio app. If you can provide details we cab definitely take a look. There is even a section for the Smart TV apps, https://forums.plex.tv/categories/plex-for-smart-tvs-non-samsung.

I have to agree the vizio app needs some work.

  1. there is no connection present, when it’s a wired connection (to fix this i have to either wait a couple of min, re-setup the network or unplug and replug in the network cable). Not sure if this is related only to plex or if the tv network stack is the issue
  2. I can not play (start just fine ) 1080p without freezing or buffering even though the connection is wired (gigabit switch not sure that the vizio is gig or 100 meg) while my cromecast (version 2, using wire adapter) using the same switch has no problems with the same 1080p file
  3. in my opinion the menu design is also bad as it only shows to rows of content.

I’ve learned to not use or depend on apps on “smart” TVs. The devices are too underpowered and the apps get neglected then abandoned just a few months after the TV is released. Better to just get a Roku and be done with it.

that is exactly why i got a cromecast
