Where is my played/watched data kept?

Hi, I recently had to wipe my system and start from a fresh installation of Linux and PMS, because my system was becoming unstable and kept crashing.

After the installation I connected my hard-drive with all my movie and series files. I also signed my server into my plex account. I realized that it had “forgotten” which episodes I had watched and which were unplayed, if fact everything appeared as unplayed… Slightly annoying but not the end of the world. I would like to understand where this data is stored and how I can sync it with a new/other server installation.

If anybody knows what I need to do please share :slightly_smiling_face:

All of these data are stored in the Plex data folder.

If you wipe your system drive, you wipe those data as well.

Oh, good to know. Thanks. luckily I still have the previous installation on a sdcard, so should be able to restore it up.

Are there other settings/data that is kept on the host device? And not in cloud? In that case I think I would try to setup some cloud sync process to always have my configuration backed up.

I had to migrate to a new Plex server on a new machine.
Do the drive letters have to match up with my old machine?

That’s a Windows question.
Yes, it makes things way easier if the drive letter, network share name, folder path, and the file name doesn’t change.

The drive letter is quite easy to adapt. You just need to take notes which drive has which letter. https://www.windowscentral.com/how-assign-permanent-drive-letter-windows-10?amp
