Which one is better PS4 Pro or Xbox one?

List of the best ps4 games launched in 2017:
For Honor
Horizon Zero Dawn
Star Trek: Bridge Crew

I’m buying it for the first time, the biggest question in my mind is which console to buy.

For use with Plex…
IMO They both suck!

buy whichever has the games you want and get a roku for plex

I own both an Xbox One and a PS4. The Xbox one seems to be far superior in terms of ease of use and reliability. I’ll be buying a Scorpio, but not a PS4 Pro.

Just my opinion, not looking to argue with fanboys.

If you had to pick the best of the two, I would agree the better is the Xbox.
However the best suggestion is to use whatever box you want for gaming and a Roku for your media.

I have no experience with PS4 but the Xbox app isn’t great and hasn’t been updated in a while. As other people say, go with a Roku. My new main client is a Shield but once the Scorpio comes out I’ll probably use that instead (provided the app gets updated…)

Console and Gaming are two words that shouldn’t be used in the same sentence - but I won’t argue their popularity. Sad, but true unfortunately.

If you simply must game with a control pad and auto aim - do it on the console of your choice (Gawd knows which piece of junk is the best) and get a Roku 3 for Plex.
Here’s one for $57.99: https://www.amazon.com/Roku-Streaming-Player-Certified-Refurbished/dp/B016LBZVN2
I feel great about Amazon’s Refurbs. I also feel great about Amazon’s return policy. The person that returned that one probably didn’t like the color and Amazon didn’t ask any questions.

There is no absolute right or wrong about gaming. Personally I hate PC gaming as much as @JuiceWSA hates consoles.
The PC is not an ergonomic machine, it is expensive when compared to consoles, it is inherently unstable thanks to the multitude of possible hardware combinations. It is also a nightmare for programmers, who must consider millions of possible variations (logic board, processor, amount of RAM, type and number of installed graphics cards, etc).
Consoles give programmers a much more even playfield: what looks good on a PS4 in Japan looks exactly the same in the US or the UK, while your rich kid neighbour could have a much more powerful PC build than yours and play a much better (more fluid, more FPS) version of the same game you are playing.

I will definitely second those who suggested to get any console AND a Roku.

Just consider that apart from the ubiquitous franchises (FIFA, CoD, etc), each console has its own “killer applications”. You can only play Gran Turismo on PlayStation, and Forza Motorsport on Xbox. That should make your choice easier (or not).

It depends on who you talk to. For PC Gamers PC Gaming is the ONLY way to fly and vice-versa I guess, but one thing is certain; There’s a reason there’s not a lot of ‘cross-platform-gaming’ going on. PC Gamers will PWN Console Gamers like Grandma does this cute little toddler and all the auto-aim in the universe won’t even slow it down - you’d spend a few hours re-spawning every 15 seconds, rage quit, then break up the furniture:

LOL

Incidentally - since I started using Steam for everything it has pretty much leveled out the playing field - but you do need a solid Gaming Rig. PC Gamers have 'em and they make GREAT Plex Servers.
Ok, enough about Gaming - we’re talking Plex apps.

Dreamcast for the win!!!

For Plex… ANything but Xbox One. Worst Plex Media play back experience of any format I use it on.

That said I sold my PS4 5 months after I bought it, I still have my Xbox One from release day. Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

IMO The best Plex experience is on the AppleTV, butter smooth.

Get a Nintendo Switch for gaming and a Roku for watching Plex.

The Switch is ridiculously slick and fun. I figured I’d leave it docked to the TV 99% of the time and rarely play it handheld/portable. I’m actually playing it portable a lot more than I expected, because the experience is that good. Grab and go, take it with you anywhere, seamless transition. And Breath of the Wild is amazing, while Mario Kart is just loads of crazy fun. Snipperclips is a great casual party game too, and then there’s Jackbox Games although I already have that on Steam.

So much hate for the Plex Xbox app.

For plex use I’d say it depends on the media you have and the sizeof your library. If you’re just getting started with your Plex server then just install the Plex app and use it until you outgrow it (if you do) or need features it doesn’t have. No sense spending extra money upfront if you don’t need to.

Unless you want to play specific games that are only available on one platform I’d go for the Xbox over the PS4. It’s just better on many levels.
