on the download page there is a choice of three media servers for netgear.

But I can not find out which one I should download for this model.
I am probably (AM) out of my depth as I am hoping to put my music files on a memory stick attached to this router and use plex to play my music on my amazon alexa devices without having to have a pc on.
If I am wasting my time please say so. sorry if I am wasting yours.
sadly the product spec on netgear.com doesn’t show that information.
according to https://wikidevi.com/wiki/Netgear_D7000v2 your router has an Intel CPU, so the Intel 6.x package should be the way to go for you.

I now have the plex server package on thee usb stick attached to thee router.
All the instructions I can find online say click thee plex media button on the router settings, my router has no such button.
Surely I have to run this TAR file or something else?
It looks like your router does not run Netgear’s ReadyNAS 6 and is therefore not able to install apps such as a Plex Media Server. I haven’t been using those but it looks like they’re only offering this for their Network Storage devices.
