Why Are About 50% of My Recordings Failing With Transcoder Error

Here we go again.
Nearly 50 of my recordings are failing and reporting a Transcoder Error…

Below is the Log Entry for the most recent failure.

What is strange I do not have Transcode on Recording Set so what is the transcoder doing being involved?

It’s all Greek to me.

Could someone please help and let me know what I am doing wrong or why this is happening.

Thanks…

what version are you running?

Current Public Version.

I NEVER use the Plex Pass Channel any more.
I don’t like paying to have beta versions running

You’re lucky you actually get an error in the log. My shows say they are recording, but don’t record. No errors.

Be even luckier if someone from Plex would acknowledge…
LOL

I have suddenly developed the same problem 100% of the time. I can see now that my recording schedule is being eaten -pacman style- by “Transcoder Error”. Be nice to know what to do about it…

You could;
a) revert to v1.6.1 that works
b) keep trying the latest Plex Pass betas
c) wait for a Public Release that works
d) make a Feature Request like I did forums.plex.tv/discussion/301580/feature-request-allow-disabling-of-all-transcoding-especially-for-plex-pass-dvr#latest

Well Bro, I am running Public Release. I quit being a paying Beta Tester for Plex.

Nice if Plex chimed in…
I recently purchased 2 software products.

Dealing with Plex in here, I had forgotten what “Support” was…
Been a long time since I bought software, since Plex Pass.

Well wow!!!
For both software vendors, My issues have been replied to within 4 hours. One company even had a Phone number where I was able to TALK to a support rep.

With Plex, we are lucky to even get a “Here’s your hat what’s your hurry?” response to acknowledge the issue.

Man Plex… Get With The Program!!!

I had forgotten what support was, Plex certainly has trained me not to expect an answer to app killer bugs like this one…

LOL

Also, These vendors acted like they CARED about the product and any issues.

Dealing with professional software developers was certainly a pleasant change for me…

Just to add weight to the call - I am getting the same thing now. My install has been solid up to now;

Version 1.12.0.4829

About 3 out of 4 recordings fail now.

On closer inspection, the tuner isn’t picking up all the channels. Its got about 12 out of the 46 I had configured - a rescan doesn’t help. I’ll manually check the signal, but nothing on that side has changed recently.

For me, an upgrade (to Version 1.12.1.4871) seems to have solved this one - a change scan found everything and it seems to be recording ok (no transcoder issues)
