I’m not sure what I am doing wrong. I ripped some dvd’s that I personally made. Each disc has multiple files on them. When ripped I am naming them “ShowName-S01E01-ShowTitle”. for example the first one is “DOD2001-S01E01-Credits.mp4”. They are located in folders like this:
TV Shows/DyadOnDisc/Season 01/DOD2001-S01E01-Credits.mp4
Plex is seeing them (12 seasons approximately 20 episodes each) and organizing them perfectly. They are just named “Season 01”, “Episode 01”. It’s not listing them with a show title or an episode name.
What am I doing wrong? I don’t care if the seasons are named differently, I just want the episode names to be correct. When adding them I add them to the TV Show library type and the Agent is the Personal Media Shows.
I can’t seem to find the right formula.
Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: 4.12.3
Refresh Metadata - at the show level - should get you going, but if not, The Plex Dance will:
Note:
When you (or someone) ripped those items with MakeMKV - you (or someone) left those Title Fields intact and now they’re just being cloned in everything you (or someone) creates.
It’s way easier to remove those Title Fields than messing around with them afterwards, but it’s even easier than that to make Plex stop reading and reacting to them.
I feel like I am following it precisely. I have done the dance clearing everything possible. I am not searching the TVDB Agent. These are basically home movies that I want to organize into seasons. I’ve been at this all day and have re-labeled my files a hundred times and re-scanned my files even more times.
Here is exactly how I have my files organized:
TV Shows/Dyad On Disc/Season 01/DOD2001-S01E01-Credits.mp4
This is EXACTLY how the recorded live TV shows Plex records appear except for the file extension. Plex recorded shows use “.ts”. Example:
TV Shows/Talking Dead (2011)/Season 10/The Walking Dead (2010)-S10E01-Lines We Cross.ts
And yes I tried changing my extension to that and it did nothing.
And of course as I was typing everything above, I came across this page. Which I guess explains what is happening.
You can’t just ‘change’ an extension - and that has nothing to do with it anyway.
You need to Fix Match, go to Search Options and change the Agent to Personal Media Shows. That will cause Plex to stop trying to match those items - and of course, you’ll need to edit by hand, but just once - we hope.
Mine just says “Match”. And when I select it I get the window where I can select the Personal Media Shows. When I select that the window goes away and it seems to update something but I get no options to enter in any data.
“match” means that plex couldn’t figure what series to match to (ie it is unmatched), where as ‘re-match’ means plex matched it to something (correctly or incorrectly), and ‘re-match’ lets you change to the correct show/movie.
as above, the ‘pencil’ icon should let you edit the data, in you picture it is on the tool bar to the left of the 3 dots.
depending on screen width, it may or may not be in the 3 dot menu.
you can ‘edit’ the show (top level), seasons, and each individual episodes, if you want to.
besides the toolbar/3dot menu, you can also mouse over the poster and see the pencil/3dot menu.
edit; also don’t forget you can select multiple items to change the metadata on all of them (click the circle top left of the poster)
Right, but on some posters - episodes, for instance, some functions that are only visible at the Show Level won’t be there and even Veterans hit that quick-pencil - then have to back out to go to the right place…lol
