Why are some photos dated as 1 jan 1900 when on "timeline" view

plex version 1.18.4.2171 - problem still exists :slightly_frowning_face:
This bug plex team fixing more than 3 month.
This is unacceptable.

the worst part is, that none of admin staff answered and gave some kind of explenation…

i doubt that in 2020 is possible, that any kind of software problem cant be solved.

Same issue… and it seems Plex on Windows is affected most.

I have issue with Linux as well…

I have this same issue. With hundreds, maybe thousands of photos going back many years. Hopefully this gets fixed soon.

+1, same Jan 1, 1900 bug on some pictures, especially “today’s” pictures

Any idea when this regression will be regressed ? Be nice for my photos to appear in the right order. Several Plex Server releases have come and gone over the last three months - it would nice just to get some idea when it might be fixed.

Could you confirm it is now on the server team backlog awaiting effort to fix it.

Thanks.

1.18.6.2368 does seem to fix my 1 Jan 1900 problem with photos. Thanks Scott !

Just for another data point, I was in the same situation as many others in this thread, specifically where the date in the timeline didn’t agree with the (correct) date in the metadata. The more photos I tried to import at once, the worse this problem appeared to be.

I’m now running the latest update (1.18.7.2438), and I can confirm it works correctly for me! Unfortunately, I did have to remove all my photos from the library (I used a .plexignore file), empty the trash, and then rescan, but it worked! I imported all my photos at once and they are correctly placed in the timeline.

i can also confirm that timeline is now ok!

well done plex team! it did take a little long time, but you fix it. congratulations.

Problem solved here as well!
Thanks a lot for solving this issue!

+1 Brand new to Plex. A lot of photos from 1900. I do time travel, but I don’t post those pics.

Plex Media Server 1.18.6.2348 is now available in the Beta update channel.

Where is the Beta update channel? If this is the fix I need, then I am in.

Thanks,

Sean

The Beta update channel is for Plex Pass subscribers.

However this particular fix has already made it into the public build of Plex Media Server.

Ahh, then the 1900 error is not fixed, as I am experiencing it. I can share example images if you like.

I will try to figure out why I want Plex Pass (maybe in another thread).

Cheers,

Sean

Which server version are you running?
Can you post screenshots of the ‘Get Info’ and Metadata properties?

I do not use Plex for photos so I may not be able to help too much.

I am running version 4.22.3.

Attached is the Get Info data. Wasn’t sure where to find Metadata, so I guessed. Let me know if it’s insufficient.

Sean

So 4.22.3 is your player version, What is your Server version?
You will find that Under Settings->General

The Metadata looks good. I would expect it to show up under April 14, 2020 in the gallery. Where do you see it showing up at 1900? (provide a screenshot if you can)

Version 1.19.1.2645.

Here’s what I see.

Sean

Interesting. @drzoidberg33 might be able to help you better with this particular issue as I am not too familiar with photo libraries in Plex.
