why can I not select this from homescreen?

I am unable to select this to return to now playing from the homescreen. I can select it in the other menus but not the homescreen. Is this by design? It does not make any sense.

Yes you can’t click it but it can be mapped to remote. I drove me crazy at the beginning but I’ve found a proper combination for my remote.

This skin has some weird UI choices. An icon that you cannot select and no way to lock the views for the menu. Instead, you use the direction keys to change between the 2 view choices. I like the homescreen so I continue to use it but it could be so much better.

That element really doesn’t fit in with the rest of the theme at all, I have seen it pop up intermittently and also found there is no way to click on it. I would suggest that the openPHT team remove that element so it doesn’t show at all as it is just confusing to the user and offers no easy way to use it.

I don’t think that was ever intended as an interactive element.
It’s merely a visual indicator, so that the user will be aware of ongoing background playback even if audio is muted (or just quiet).

As for going back to the proper playback screen, this can be done either by ‘Tab’ key, or corresponding mapped remote button.

It can be selected when you are not on the homescreen that’s why it makes no sense. Either way i decided to go back to using Kodi. It is just too much better than PHT or OPENPHT.

Kodi is a useful media player in its own right, and you can of course choose whatever you like.
It’s especially useful when all you need is local/LAN file access without a media server dependency.
And it also offers a few features that are not included in the Plex server concepts (PVR etc).

But even so, you will not get the full Plex experience without a dedicated Plex client.
PlexBMC is good, to be sure, but it can’t provide everything.
