Why can't I connect remotely, even though remote access is enabled?

Server Version#: 1.20.5.3600

Hi all, I’m running my server off of my raspi and have been struggling to setup remote access. I went through my router (I use two Google Wifi routers in mesh config, connected to a Netgear modem), and set up port forwarding, at which point, my server settings showed that remote access was enabled. However, I’m still unable to stream the media remotely. When I do try to stream remotely, I get this message:

However, when connected locally, there are no transcoding errors to speak of.

What can I do to diagnose and fix this problem? TIA.

Do you get a similar error when a video is being transcoded locally?
If there’s none showing that could simply mean the server isn’t currently transcoding locally… you could try to “force” a transcode by setting the playback quality to a lower resolution/bitrate while playing something locally.

This should help to verify if the issue is with your remote access or the transcoding.

Hmmmm. The only time I’ve had a problem similar to this, was when I forgot I had my VPN turned on the computer I was downloading from. However, all though I kept getting warnings, it still transcoded, it just took much slower than usual. I noticed your tag says, Linux. Is this on a seedbox? PLEX constantly has updates for Linux. You may want to make sure you’re on the latest version just in case.

I do get a similar error message when a video is being transcoded locally, but not when I am viewing it at the same quality level locally.
