Not to mention removing the air date of the episode from that display (which I referenced regularly for TV shows)…
…AND moving the clock from the lower left (where it made sense, as it’s inline with ALL of the other times/timing AND had a guaranteed dark background to display against) to the top right… where it’s admittedly inline with the typical clock location on other screens, but is completely washed out and unreadable anytime there’s a light background.
I don’t get the need to clean-up/streamline/whatever… what is just a PAUSE screen. This is not a screen that’s visible while you’re actively watching anything, so there’s no detriment to the playback “experience” by keeping useful functions and information readily available there. Function should lead form here, on a screen like this, not the other way around.
I don’t understand why Plex seems so dead-set on making common navigation and playback information harder to find and more difficult and cumbersome to navigate. Seems every time I launch Plex I have to figure out how to use it again, to one degree or another.
At some point, do you realize that consistency in the UX far outweighs this seemingly never-ending pursuit of an (unobtainable) “perfect” UX?
I switched from the Preview channel back to the production channel over this (something I rarely do), because I thought there’d be NO WAY it’d ever make onto the actual release channel and I’d just wait it out. I mean, just the clock alone… Did anyone even look at how impractical it is on a light background before greenlighting this?
Sorry. Did not intend to hi-jack this thread or ramble this long. /rant
I found the change in the clock very annoying too, though I didn’t even notice it had been moved and thought it had just been removed entirely. This one I didn’t think worth mentioning because I figured I was just odd in using the clock on the TV.
I also didn’t notice the air date had been removed, I used that somewhat frequently as well.
Definitely completely agree with you. This just makes the UX far worse, and I don’t see what possible benefit it brings when it’s just the pause screen.
I can’t shuffle 10 seasons of a show anymore. I can’t see the airdate of the episode. I can’t fast forward quickly to the middle of an episode, I have to hold down the right button on the remote and wait forever. Jesus.
