One of my friends uses the Plex app to cast media from my PMS to their Chromecast. That activity doesn’t show up in the Now Playing / Activity dashboard. Why is this? I can’t find any documentation for it, and I’ve tried Googling/DuckDuckGo-ing, and searching these forums.
Any ideas/links to share?
Same here, I think all cast activity is not recorded. I cast from Android to Android and is not recorded as activity .
Hope anyone find a fix for this
Same here as well, gave a friend a log in to watch something and couldn’t see anything in the dashboard or tautulli which monitors the logs.
I also cast something from my phone plex app to my shield and that didn’t show up either in the logs.
This isn’t only occurring for chromecast, it seems for a lot, if not all devices are not showing.
Shows no activity, but when you click on it or go to it in settings it will show it. Not sure how they broke this. 
the activity dot not showing in the desktop app version 1.7 and 1.8 and higher is a known issue being worked on that should be fixed in 1.9. It should still show the detailed nfo in the Now Playing area on dashboard and should show correctly in the browser web app.
I just tried casting to Chromecast from the Web app and Android and it seems to be fine so if any of you can provide any other details you can think of it would be appreciated. Do your server logs show the item playing.
I am having the same issue with my Nvidia Shield not showing in the dashboard. It also doesn’t show in Tautulli and the webhooks aren’t firing when I start anything.
Just installed Version 1.8.2.1192-89432618, seems to be working fine now. 
I haven’t tested it any further, but I have now noticed some Chromecast activity in my logs. Not sure if it is yet all. Will try some testing again next I’m in front of it.
Any updates on this? I am at 1.19.3.2852 and still having the same issue.
Which app are you using to view the dashboard? hosted Web, Local Web, Plex (for Mac or Windows), Plex Media Player or Plex Dash
Hosted web is doing it for me (casting from the Android app to a CC1). Version 1.19.3.2852 (Ubuntu - technically an LXC container on Proxmox, though I can’t imagine it would matter).
I’m running 1.19.4.2935 inside a docker container on my qnap and I’m not seeing my chomecast ultra as a playing client in the dashboard. I’m using Chrome/Edge (insider build) to watch the dashboard from a windows 10 PC on the same network.

Casting from iOS to Chromecast 3; does not appear in the Plex Media Server Now Playing Dashboard (I want to know if it is hw transcoding)
Activity does not log anything cast by any user.

I’m running Plex server 1.20.1.3252 in a docker on my Unraid server. All clients show in activity and Tautulli except Chromecast clients. Is this still a known issue that is being worked on?
Running Plex server 1.20.2.3402, still no Chromecast clients showed up.
This is weird, this started happening to me as well, and oddly enough it did work 3 days ago and I haven’t changed anything. Did anyone figure out the cause of this?
Just to add to this, It appears as tho my recent Chromecasting activity doesn’t show up.
This might have come back. The latest version has had several movies play via remote but no activity recorded
