I’m not sure if this happens with all shows, but I noticed with a few recent recordings of Arrow and The Flash, it’s not grabbing the correct TheTVDB episode image. If I record on TiVo and transfer to my PC though, I do get the correct episode image. Below are examples of both. Is there a bug in the DVR that’s causing the incorrect episode image to show up?
looks like this is an auto-created thumb which was accidentally taken from a commercial in your recording… or so it seems. Maybe there’s been some timeout when retrieving the correct pic from TheTVDB (during a maintenance window or whatever).
When you click – can you pick the correct poster there. Otherwise… what happens if you refresh metadata for the show/episode?
No, there aren’t any other posters available. Just the one grabbed from a commercial in the recording. I’ve tried refresh metadata and Fix Mismatch (even though there isn’t a mismatch) and nothing works. The only way to get the image would be to find it and manually add it or do the Plex Dance.
Is there any other setting that might be causing Plex to grab an image from within the recording? Like the “Generate Chapter Thumbnails”. Does that setting affect the episode image? I didn’t think it would, but also not sure how to force it to wait for the correct image from TheTVDB.
those aren’t linked.
just assign the correct one manually…
edit: commenting on TheTVDB…
you can end up waiting in limbo quite often… it appears they do have quite some extensive maintenance windows from time to time.

I’ll keep an eye on it. If it’s happening all the time I’ll repost since it’s probably a bug if it’s all the time.
This still happens. It seems to use a generated image from another recording, not an image from TVdb.
Here is an example: His Dark Materials, but with an image from Mission Impossible - both recorded shows and the image is from the wrong broadcast programme. They are broadcast in completely different slots (one in early hours of morning, one in prime time) and on different channels, so the image is not just from the previous or later programme.
There’s multiple threads about this going back two years. Plex decides to choose whatever posters it feels like from posters it has generated lately. Time blocks where I’m recording multiple items at the same time have 50% chance of getting a completely incorrect poster. Manually fixing these is an annoying hassle, so I ignore them.
The big issue is if a kids program happens to trigger this. I’ve seen provacative “adult swim” or violent programming posters magically wind up as childrens cartoon episode posters. This is absolutely unacceptable
