Why do i have this mess with my albums?

Server Version#: 1.18.1.1973
Player Version#: 4.8.3

Albums right and wrong identifying.
My library format

Do your music files contain meta tags? If so, how have you tagged them (i.e. which tags are populated and what is their content)

Have you enabled ‘prefer local metadata’ in the properties of your library? If you did, your metatags must be immaculate or there will be a mess.

Here is an example of a properly tagged multi-disc album, which appears in Plex as it’s expected:

IMHO the best way (and easiest) is to use Picard (auto tag)

I’ve been using MediaMonkey for years and tagged my records via Dicogs.org plugin, becouse it´s the best discography web they have even the rareest records, they have all. All my records collection are perfectly tagged, mp3 320 kbps ID3v2. I think i have a clue for this Plex confusion. All records are tagged with their original publishing date. So the songs in albums before 1990 (where almost every record was published in vinyl) are tagged as there were: A1,A2,A3…B1,B2,B3. Here is a perfect example about what is Plex doing wrong. All Aerosmith songs are tagged with A1,A2,…but not for the two that where published in 93 and 97, that songs are tagged with 01,02,03…

Plex doesn’t support track “numbers” in vinyl format. The associated meta tag is specified as a ‘numeric’ data type in the ID3 spec. So they must be numbers only.

Thanks. What if i dont use my tags?

The only way of doing that is to disable ‘prefer local metadata’ in the properties of your library.
Which might or might not fit your usage case.

Thanks again. It was a stupid question. I´ve do it and its not the way i like it , but works fine. Is Plex warned of this matter to do something in the future?

I forgot a very important thing. Translation “Biblioteca” is wrong. “Biblioteca” in spanish is only for books, the correct translation is “Discoteca”.

I’ve brought it up with the developers, that this is less than optimally handled.

Localization is user-made. You can participate and try to make the change. But be warned that the term library has a lot of occurences. In both the server and all the different client apps.
So this is a major change. Only start it if you are ready to see it through.
