Why do I keep getting multiple entries for albums?

I was having problems with my Music library showing 3 entries for every single album that I have, so I deleted the library, and re-added it. It’s still scanning, and I’m noticing it happening again. Is there a way to correct this?

If you’re using embedded metadata, make sure all files of an album have the same album name (obviously) and album artist. If Plex finds different artists on the tracks of an album, it’ll otherwise consider those to be different albums.

All the metadata should be uniform, I spent a lot of time over decades making sure of that. I used Swinsian to manage my music files, should I use another program to manage the meta data?

I just realized something…I have snapshots enabled for my NAS, is that what’s causing this?

„Uniformly“ can also uniformly be missing some aspect of the required metadata… so it might be worth having a look what metadata the files in question actually contain.

I don’t think it should. However you should be able to check the paths associated to the individual tracks to confirm if they’re linked to different snapshots.

yep, the most recent album that I uploaded today has a duplicate in the snapshot folder, damn! Guess I’ll have to disable snapshots for my Music folder then.
