Why do I need see covers on gridview on the web, but instead thumbnails

Why when I view my library from the Web I can’t see the actual movie posters? What I see is a stupid zoomed in thumbnail. What I expect to see is this:

But what I end up seeing is just a zoomed in partial image of the cover, this happens on the web and plex app and just started today. Why is this happening and how can I fix it.

Maybe you changed the type of the library from “Movies” to “Other Videos”?
This will happen if you set the Agent to “Personal Media”.

Well I set it to personal media because Plex randomly decided to forget most of my custom covers. so i do have some database backups but its almost easier to start from scratch.

i am so annoyed, plus i gotta get dental work done later. today is not my day lol

This usually happens if Plex is ousting those items and later re-adding them as if they were new. It’s usually caused by an interaction of the preference “Empty trash automatically after every scan” and media storage outside of the server device. So in this case disable that checkbox.

Another possibility is the conversion of the library from old to new metadata agent. New agent means poster options are different, or in a different order so that your manually selected preferred posters are no longer available or have changed positions.
In this case there is unfortunately not much you can do to avoid the manual re-selection of posters.
