Whenever I import a new movie, it automatically creates a poster from a database (not really sure what database), and the poster is always a cropped version of a horizontal poster. I need to manually edit the poster to assign one of the vertical posters. This has been going on for a really long time, and I’m getting tired of it. Is there a setting I’m missing that would change this behavior? I don’t think it happens when I import a TV series.
I do the edit from my Windows PC, but the server is on a NAS.
Thanks for that link, because I was looking under general settings, and it might have taken me a long time to find the page you were asking about. Here it is:
I have just done that. Is Plex Movie the best for scanner and agent?
These are movies I’m recording with my Playon account and adding to the library. I did, earlier on, upload my DVD collection, and I don’t recall the problem occurring from that.
I have already manually fixed everything there now, so it’s a matter of not having to keep doing it in the future.
I’ll see what happens when I add the next movie. Thanks.
Are these older movies, with originally hand-drawn posters?
I guess some of the classic movies fit this description. The posters came from the Plex database, so I don’t know if they are even stored on my server, or just pulled in as needed.
Just to update, I added one recording after making that single change (clearing checkbox for “Use local assets”), and the new recording appeared in the library with a proper vertical poster. (But it was a replacement for a bad recording that I’d deleted, and I’d already fixed the issue on the old recording.)
Now I’m away for two weeks, so I won’t be trying again for a while. I’ll report back later.
