Why does the server transcode .ass subtitles?

Server Version#: 1.18.4.2171
Player Version#: 4.15.2
Tizen Version#: 3.0

On my Samsung QE49Q7F the h265, AC3 and .ass subtitles are supported but the server starts the transcoding of everything. After converting the subtitles to .srt the plex server does not transcode. Because? Is it possible to avoid transcoding audio and video?
