This request has thousands of votes, has been up for years upon years and is a very basic feature that should just be in the program, it should never have needed to be a request.
Yet despite all this there is 0 response from plex and it still hasn’t been implemented.
This is simply unacceptable and makes this forum seem useless.
You can’t spare a single dev to implement this basic feature that thousands would find useful?
Or just use a video player which has this option already?
I’m tempted to do like that meme where someone gets hired, fixes an issue and then quits the company.
Or you could opensource and we could easily fix it ourselves
Plex usually don’t comment on suggestions unless there’s a need to clarify the scope of a suggestion. However there’s also no public roadmap or feedback what features Plex plans to implement (or when).
Right, which is what I’m complaining about, this is a terrible approach.
As I mentioned, if you just do not care about the feedback and have no intention of implementing it then you should tell us that, keeping everyone in the dark about a very basic feature everyone wants, for a decade, is ridiculous.
Data Collection: Suggestions from users can help companies gather data on what features are most desired. Even if they don’t respond, they are still collecting valuable information.
Prioritization: Companies receive numerous feature requests and have to prioritize based on various factors like feasibility, alignment with their vision, and resource availability. Not all suggestions can be implemented, and some may take time.
Customer Engagement: Offering a suggestion option shows that the company values user input. It gives users a sense of involvement and a platform to voice their opinions, even if they don’t see immediate changes.
Feedback Filtering: Not all suggestions are practical or beneficial. Companies might be filtering through requests to find the most impactful ones.
Resource Constraints: Implementing new features takes time, money, and human resources. Companies may not have the capacity to address all suggestions immediately.
Long-Term Planning: Some feature requests might be aligned with long-term goals and strategic planning, even if they are not addressed in the short term.
Managing Expectations: Engaging with every suggestion can create an expectation that all will be implemented, which is not feasible. Companies might choose not to engage directly to manage these expectations.
