I have mkv files with DTS 5.1 audio track and not surprisingly after downmixing to stereo by plex media player installed on windows 10, the dialog volume is very low. I tried to set audio boost to large or even huge but could not hear a noticeable difference. I’m using the latest version of plex media player (v3.9.1). I have the same low volume issue when playing plex on AppleTV. Any idea why the audio boost seems not working?
If the audio is not being transcoded Audio Boost does nothing.
If you are setting this in the web app under
Settings - Web - Player
then it won’t affect PMP.
You need to put PMP into full screen mode
then you get access to its preferences
(click on your user name)
Settings - Audio
“Normalize Downmixed Volume”
Make sure to set the channel number to 2
if you only have 2 speakers!
And the device type to Basic
If that boost is not enough, you need to activate a hidden feature of PMP:
How do you enter full screen mode outside of watching something? I’m having the same issue with volume and would love to be able to fix it.

The full screen mode I am taling abotu is only available in Plex Media Player.
This has nothing to do with the web client or the Roku.
