I’m also having issues with scheduled recordings not recording. Neither Saturday Night Live nor Brooklyn Nine-Nine were recorded this weekend, but I had seen both in the recording schedule ahead of time.

What times were the two prgrammes aired and supposed to be scheduled?
The logs cover period Sunday 8th April 11:07 am to Monday 9th April 06:30 am
Were there recordings to be made during this period?
I can see Brooklyn Nine-Nine E16
scheduled for 15th April at 20:29
and Saturday Night Live - E20
scheduled for 14th April at 23:29

It’s happening again for the Simpsons channel 4.1. Even while watching it live in a chrome browser it wouldn’t show me any options to manually record.
Series is set to record all/all/any/foreverFrom @Smokindog at 01:13 am GMT - 9 April 2018
I was watching it on both the chrome app and a ROKU device with a TV. I tuned in via chrome because the ROKU doesn’t support record requests of live TV. I also tried deleting and re-adding the series. I’ve not captured a Simpsons episode on Sunday (new) since I started my Plex Pass trial. Not sure if that is coincidence or not.
From @Smokindog at 01:15 am GMT - 9 April 2018
I know but the record button did not even show up.
From @sa2000 at 01:16 am GMT - 9 April 2018
Does the problem arise if you only use chrome and not at the same time use the Roku for same show?

In such cases need screenshot as well
From @Smokindog at 01:23 am GMT - 9 April 2018
Show ended at 7:30 PM CDT. It’s the same scenario I sent you screen shots for in the other posts. I also include log in these messages. The show was on from 7-7:30PM CDT tonight
From @sa2000 at 01:29 am GMT - 9 April 2018
The screenshot that I would be after for this one, is of the live tv streaming overlay on Plex Web in Google Chrome which you say did not have a record button
Regarding the simpsons
I can see requests for channel 4.1 from client app on IP 192.168.110.151
Was this the roku ? or the Chrome Plex web app?
At 18:50:59 channel selected and live tv session started

I have looked at the Battlestar Galactica issue and the recordings were not scheduled because there appeared to be no airings. This may well be because of an EPG issue
I was actively watching the show, it was on the TV. In each and every one of these situations I told you that. Why do you tell me things like “there appeared to be no airings” when I told you in the post “Currently on channel 21.2, not recording”?

I will look again at those logs.
But i want to make a distinction between these types of issues
- airings do not show in the Programme Guide so would not get recorded
- airings do show and recordings are schedules but no recording takes place or no recordings found afterwards
- live tv streaming but record button does not show
Please can you confirm if your issues all fall in number 3 - because in both cases you mentioned you were actively watching and if it is Plex Web app - on which browser and if it is the web app through http://127.0.0.1:32400/web
or https://app.plex.tv/desktop

Thanks for the info. Could not find any reference to a 20:29 scheduled recording for Sunday 8th.
Noticed that the Mac is hibernatig / going to sleep. It was in that state for 9 hours just after - from 21:10 til after 6am. Could you disable sleep on the mac and also if there are any power options on the network card. It introduces a risk for any regular actions eg processing set of programs for scheduled recordings.
I would also like to wait for the beta that I expect to be released this week - version 1.12.3 and suggest with sleep disabled and PMS updatede to 1.12.3 we see if the problem persists and get diagnostics from that version. Might need also to look at the epg database as well as logs

To investigate why the record button was not showing, i need to look at the xml response for a specific query. To do that, i need you to establish what the token is for your server
See this support article for how to find that out
https://support.plex.tv/articles/204059436-finding-an-authentication-token-x-plex-token/
Then please enter the following request url in a browser on the server
http://127.0.0.1:32400/media/providers?X-Plex-Token=xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
where xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx is to be replaced with the security token string for the server
Copy the response xml into a text file and save and attach here
Also when you are streaming live tv in Plex Web, and you see there is no record button when you hover on the button / and on the overlay - then please take a screenshot so i see exactly where you are looking for this record button
With regards to investigating missing scheduled recordings. we need to extend how much we get in the logs. There are 6 log files that are recycled and that is only covering a short period of time
I would like to increase the number of log files
Please use RegEdit
to add a registry entry as follows
Select HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server
and right click on Plex Media Server
and select New
→ REG_DWORD (32-bit)
and create item and name it LogNumFiles
and give it a value of, say 40 decimal
Exit RegEdit
You can delete this LogNumFiles
at the end of all the investigations to get back to the default
And please for missed scheduled recordings, always give the time it was supposed to happen and show name and channel together with the zipped logs

Thanks - looking at this now
This does show an issue with EPG refresh not going beyond 10% - I am referring to the development team
Would like to know if you have had more cases of Refresh EPG getting stuck. I have only seen the one occurence in the logs provided. I would like to defer investigating this until version 1.12.3 is released - which i expect to be this week and get logs if it happens on the new version). we may need a process dump captured - but will wait until seeing the logs

I noticed when looking at my logs that the daily scheduled maintenance task for updating the EPG is failing. Attached is a log snippet from early this morning around 0400 that shows the EPG failure. Note, I masked out my IP address in this log. Also, when I MANUALLY forced an EPG update this morning around 0615, it worked just fine. I currently have my settings NOT to pull the enhanced info and NOT to update more frequently as that seems to have corrected an issue I was having where scheduled recordings at 2000 were failing to record.
On a related question, how far out does the EPG data go? I know there are new airings of some shows scheduled for 4/16/18, but the recording schedule doesn’t list them (yet?).
Plex Media Server version 1.12.3.4947
has just been released as beta
It has a fix for caching bug where the cache was not correctly checked before making EPG requests to tmsapi.plex.tv. With this fix, the volume of requests should reduce significantly - 75% reduction has been observed. This should avoid getting Cloudflare rate limiting temporary IP Bans.
See Release Note http://forums.plex.tv/discussion/comment/1650553/#Comment_1650553
- (DVR) HTTP request cache should properly check for file expiration when requesting celeb/series data. (#8405)
@Smokindog - could you try the new bets please - version 1.12.3 and get the diagnostics I asked for from that version please
This is the release notice

We have found a problem which results in lost airings which would lead to lost scheduled recordings
The issue arises when in Day Light Savings time
When a refresh is done, airings at midnight GMT will disappear for that day. Add your offset from GMT and see if that would explain the lost recordings issue you have been having
So with your server being GMT-4:00 then airings would be lost for hour starting at 8pm

So 2 issues here
Issue 1 = impacting Brooklyn Nine-Nine
PMS at GMT-4:00
Program at 20:29
That would have affected Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which was at 8:29pm,
Issue 2 = impacting SNL
Mac is hibernatig / going to sleep. It was in that state for 9 hours just after - from 21:10 until after 6am.
SNL, which was at 11:29pm.
I don’t know if you have read my earlier posts about the bug that has just been found.
For your server which runs at GMT-5:00, the airings and recordings that would get lost would be those between 7pm and 8pm
A fix will be released shortly - with a hotfix beta 1.12.3 release
The hot fix release for the bug giving rise to lost airings and recordings between 00:00 and 01:00 GMT on the day the EPG is refreshed is now available as beta release 1.12.3.4973-215c28d86

But you said my log didn’t start until Sunday 8th April 11:07 am, right? So isn’t that sleep period you’re referring to from Sunday night then? If so, we don’t know that a sleep issue is what prevented SNL from recording the night before.
I scheduled couple random shows to record last night, and they recorded fine.
I can also confirm that most of the shows that were supposed to air between 8 and 9pm last night were not showing the guide, even after manually refreshing. If I searched for the shows, they would only show a listing for the following week.

I can only comment on the time covered by the logs and not what did or did not happen the day before
Logs go back to 11:07 am 8th April.
Logs covered 11:07am 8th April to 06:30 am 9th April
Logs show system going to sleep at 9:10 pm on 8th April and waking up at 06:02 am on 9th April.
