Why is my scheduled recording not being recorded? And EPG Refresh gets stuck

I cannot comment without seeing logs covering the period of the manual EPG Refresh whilst running 1.12.3.4973

Here are the logs.

Here are the logs.

I cannot see any EPG Refresh using 1.12.3.4973 in the logs

The logs cover Apr 13, 2018 from 06:55 am to 07:49 am

No EPG Refresh during this time

and I do see these shows being dropped which I believe is the bug of dropping 8pm to 9pm airings

Apr 13, 2018 07:01:36.957 [0x7000003a6000] DEBUG - DVR:Grabber: Cancelling operation for 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine - E18 - Gray Star Mutual' with status cancelled.
Apr 13, 2018 07:01:36.958 [0x7000003a6000] DEBUG - DVR:Grabber: Cancelling operation for 'Brooklyn Nine-Nine - E16 - Nutriboom; DFW' with status cancelled.

What time did you do the EPG Refresh?
and did you capture any logs / during / just after ?

I captured logs this morning, right before I uploaded them here.

How much time are the logs supposed to cover? The previous time I uploaded logs covered 11:07am 8th April to 06:30 am 9th April, almost 24 hours. Why would today’s logs only cover this morning?

The cancellation of Brooklyn Nine-Nine was caused by me. I was checking something in the scheduled recording and accidentally clicked “Cancel Recording”. I’ve turned the recording back on.

I think the logs reset when the server refreshes and the current version of PMS crashes a lot. I may be wrong…

20 hours of logs included 9 hours of zero logging

How much they cover depends on activity - there are 6 log files by default with each up to 5Mb of content - and also if server restarts then the last file would be less than 5Mb

You can use the advanced setting LogNumFiles to increase the number of files

See https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/
Suggest you set it to 10 or 40
You can delete the key to go back to default afterwards

If LogNumFiles isn’t in my preferences file, can I just add it like this?

<key>LogNumFiles</key>
<string>10</string>

It is not a string. Can you see other examples in the preferences where there is an integer

What is the platform?

This needs to be made settable in the GUI, like the Verbose logging. You can’t rely on users changing the registry or other system areas on other platforms for user level debugging. Next thing you know people will want copies or screen shots of the registry to prove they have done what the vendor asked. VERY bad policy here.

Ah, yes. Like this then?

<key>LogNumFiles</key>
<integer>10</integer>

It’s a Mac.

I’d like to second that. I’ve had to some minor editing of plist files before, but most people would have no idea what to do and could easily mess something up.

Looks ok - if other integer settings have same syntax

you could use this in terminal
defaults write com.plexapp.plexmediaserver LogNumFiles 10

A restart of the mac may be needed
