Why is no Plex Dev interested in fixing AFTV client?

Hi,

on the Amazon Fire TV 2 all files with DTS soundtracks are useless, because all new versions will put out a 2 Channel PCM.

There are some postings that this behavior is produced by a bug in the Fire TV by itself and has to be fixed by Amazon. Some postings mentioned, that establishing the exoplayer v2 will give some benefits also.

The situation exist not one ore two weeks, i think there are now several months…

My questions:

  • Why is it so hard to integrate the exoplayer v2, while it seems not so hard to integrate it with the great “News” function? (which leads me to the next question: is “News” more important than playing Movies?)
  • Why doesn’t the new Versions for AFTV supports a transcoding for the problematic soundfiles to something better while the Amazon firmware is buggy? E.G. the Version 5.10.3.441 will transcode everything to EAC3 (with the same buggy AFTV Firmware) - which i think is a little bit better than 2 Channel PCM.

Thanks

Good question

Generally Plex is not to interested in fixing anything.

This is really too bad.

Just look thru this so-called support system.

Plex has created a terrible, adversarial relationship with most of it’s user base due to how they support their client base.

Problem fixed by using Emby…

Thanks to the Devs for support.
