Why is Plex Media Center so bad?

I must admit I am not impressed. Coming from OpenPHT to Plex Media center is like going back to the days of Windows Media Center except Plex Media center isn’t as good.
Seriously, is this product going to showcase Plex?
I keep waiting for a new version and when it comes nothing changes…
!) Having two rows of videos is really a step back. Now I have to scroll way over to the right, back and forth.
2) The Folders view…what is it supposed to show? I just get a whole bunch of empty boxes.
3) Synchronizing speech with video…seriously? No option to do so? Delay the video by x ms?
I have to say my Plex pass is coming up for renewal, and it’s really not worth it.

I assume you mean the Windows app. That is meant to be used by phones and tablets, or on a laptop due to the sync function. Try using the Plex Media Player (PMP) app instead - https://www.plex.tv/blog/introducing-the-plex-media-player/ - in it you can use the Web app as a front-end if that might be more to your taste.

If you went from OpenPHT to Plex Media Center that’s a step backwards, not forwards.

Plex Media Center was the client way back in the day.

I was also pondering which client the OP actually meant, and if it might be the new PMP he wasn’t happy with, but since you can use the Web as a front-end (which should mitigate the first complaint) and I am fairly certain it has the capabilities to synch video/audio (though you might know better, not that familiar with it) - I drew the conclusion he has opted for the Windows app. But I’m not too sure, you could be right.

Yes, sorry it is the newer one Plex Media Player.
Can’t sync the voice and video when necessary. The folder view just shows blank boxes.
Mouse doesn’t work to advance the video either.
I’m using the Synology server.

OK. Sad to hear that you are not happy with PMP. Have you tried the web frontend that was made available last year? Doesn’t that at least help somewhat with the design issue you are mentioning?

Hi,
The web front end is even worse in general. The biggest issue is it wont play many channels.
I could live with PMP if it didn’t just have those awful two row views with the subsequent scrolling you need to do.
As it is I am very happy with openPHT.
