Why is Plex not finding my local media assets? (re: movie extras)

Where do I need to begin looking to figure out why Plex isn’t finding my local media assets (more specifically, my movie extras) ?

I’ve tried the two different directory structures as shown in the Wiki, and here are my current folders:

/Bluray/Wreck-It Ralph/Wreck-It Ralph.mkv
/Bluray/Wreck-It Ralph/Deleted Scenes/Ralph In Hero’s Duty Prison.mkv

The library (“Movies (Bluray)”) is set to use Plex Movie Scanner and Plex Movie agent. In the server settings (Agents -> Movies -> Plex Movie), I have “Local Media Assets (Movie)” checkmarked.

I can upload logs but I wasn’t sure which one to upload or which one I could view myself to try and troubleshoot.

That’s not the correct way to structure your extra items. Go to the FAQ section and search for naming and you’ll find a comprehensive section on how to name your extras and where to put them.

@sofakng You need to re-update your library and wait for it to start fetching your local metadata.

I did a quick tutorial on how to add extras to another user in another post.

Hope it works for you. And good luck!

@kegobeer-plex What’s wrong about my directory structure? The support article (https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/articles/200220677-Local-Media-Assets-Movies) shows that you can have in-line extras:

…or separate directories:

The only problem I can see is that I don’t have the year of the movie in the directory or main movie title?

@Ashus Thanks very much for the link. However, your post just links to the support article I linked above, right?

OK - I’ve cleaned up the files and it’s now working. I think I had one unlabeled extra and it was causing problems?

Thanks for the help everybody.

@sofakng Glad you got it to work!

On my post, if you scroll down the thread, you’ll see my method with screenshots on how i performed it. But anyways, at least you fixed it!
