Why is Plex so Quiet?

Why is Plex Player so quiet? MBP2021, using the Plex App. I had the computer on max volume (with max volume output) and the video played at a hushed volume. I opened the same file in VLC and had to bring the volume down to half to save my eardrums. Obviously I would prefer to use Plex Player over VLC, but the volume is a huge issue.
