Why is Plex transcoding?

Using Plex client on my brand new Samsung QLED QE49Q60R. I was expecting to work out of the box but I got lots of buffering. After an investigation I found that the movie is transcoding. Why is this? I thought in 2019 all the model support x265 even 10bit natively? How can i find the reason why this is transcoding?

Thanks

The manual says the TV does support h265, but doesn’t says anything about 10-bit; info starts on p135. You could try putting the movie on a USB and seeing if it will work directly on the tv.

doesn’t appear that file has HD audio, I would suggest try disable subtitles.

post screenshot of your server now playing @ Plex Web > settings > dashboard

also, logs with the problem reproduced are the only way to know for sure.

You also have ASS subtitles. The Plex app cannot play these as is. Check your subtitle settings and make sure it’s set to “image only” or these gets transcoded into the video.

the 10 bit was a consideration of mine.after re-checking the video properties it’s clear that this is an 8 bit depth

I’m not sure what this HD audio reference means, can you please elaborate?

I will try what you suggested regardless. Thanks!

good point about the ASS. I will try also to change the subtitles settings and feed back!
