Why is tag data not updating?

I have many libraries, and most are working very well. But I am struggling with understanding why PLEX does not seem to respond to changes that I make.

Specifically, I have a library of audiobooks (using Music) for which I have just modified the TAG data in one field, but in all 5,000+ audio files (MP3).

I made the changes using MP3Tag, then in my PLEX server, I first clicked on my Audiobooks library, then on the “Scan Library Files”, but the tag information is not changing. Next I triggered the “Refresh All Metadata” process, but again, the tag information changes are not showing up in PLEX.

It seems that sometimes I have to delete a library, then reinstall it to get such changes to take effect. That does not seem right, so . . . what am I doing wrong? Or missing?

It’s a LOOOOONG-standing bug. So long, in fact, that the workaround has acquired a name (Plex Dance).
