Hello I just updated my Plex on my FreeNAS and it seems like the Movies metadata works fine. But the TV shows are not pulling in anything. I followed the naming guide from here: https://support.plex.tv/articles/naming-and-organizing-your-tv-show-files/ and it worked fine on my earlier install. But since the upgrade, it is not pulling in any metadata.
You said you updated Plex, so was this on a previous version of Plex with all the metadata there before the upgrade? Or is this a brand new library that show data has never been loaded?
Okay, well the metadata for your library files should be getting carried over between updates, unless perhaps if you jumped a large number of versions with this update (which I doubt given what you’ve told us so far). So my concern would be there is possibly corruption of your database files at this point.
Have you tried a restart of the jail to rule out the old “did you try turning it off and back on again?”
Have you tried making a brand new library pointing to the same files to see what happens when Plex tries an initial scan and match of the same files.
Have you tried a manual Fix Match on one title to see if Plex loads the metadata then?
Thanks for the replies and yes it is a big update (I haven’t update my plex server for 4 years). Yes I restarted the jail - I went as far as delete the entire plugin from my NAS and re-install it from scratch. I tried Fix Match and it didn’t load anything for TV. All of my movies and music load fine though.
If you deleted the entire plugin I would think that you have deleted your old database files, too. So this should be a brand new library then.
When you do Fix Match are you able to select the show from the search results? Sometimes I find after I do that I have to do a manual “refresh metadata” on the show to get the new information to load. But I wouldn’t be able to explain why Plex seems to be unable to find so many shows on the initial scan if this is a new plug-in install and library.
Also, you might double-check that you didn’t accidentally set the library type wrong when you created the Library. If you accidently set it as “videos” or “movies” that would explain why it’s not finding the TV shows.
Maybe it would be good to check your agent settings for the library.
Three dots menu > Manage Library > Edit > Advanced option on sidebar.
Is the agent set to “TheTVDB”, like so:
Also check your general library agent settings.
[Settings screen] > Settings section of Sidebar > Agents > “Shows” category on top > “TheTVDB” subsection.
Make sure theTVDB is actually active there, too:
Thanks @nx6, I checked both settings and it appears that it is the same as your. But the option TheTVDB is a little grey out? I can’t uncheck it even if I wanted to - is that normal?
