Why is it that when audio is transcoded, the video stream is automatically transcoded as well? When audio direct plays, so does the video.
I need it to transcode the audio stream but leave the video as is.

all the “fixes” mentioned didn’t make any difference.
So turns out all I had to do was to manually update the Plex app in Google Play Store. Why apps don’t update automatically on Shield I don’t know.
Now incompatible audio streams are transcoded to Opus and video stream is left untouched.

you must have your play store settings wrong on your shield
your issue must be different to the one i referred to, as i still have both video and audio transcoding
Ok good to know. I couldn’t find this option when I looked in app settings so I must have missed something.
Thank you for this, I managed to find it and it was already on. Still wondering why it hadn’t updated Plex apps before but all good.
