Hello,
Why sometimes one of the episodes is displayed separately from the whole season? And how to fix it?
Please, look at the screenshot below: there are nine episodes in the third season of the Succession, but one of the episodes is additionally displayed separately. The same problem with the Dopesick.
The workaround for this problem is to disable periodic scans and to scan the library manually and only when nothing is downloading. But how to fix the previous wrong matches?
As you suspect this is caused by periodic scans adding media as its downloaded and plex does not combine these fully when they are added between scans. I think the scanner is just designed to handle addition of media for scenarios like that. So in this example S03E09 was likely the last one downloaded and scanned after the others where scanned and added to plex.
Anyhow, disabling is the best (which is what I do) and then I just manually scan when I want to add stuff.
To fix – you could try a plex dance on the show/season but I’m not 100% sure that will solve it from the recently added view.
BTW… I think there is a feature request to combine these so you could search for that and vote for it.
It depends on how much time lies between adding episodes.
If it’s only a few hours, they are shown accumulated. If it’s more than a day (or something around that), they are shown as single items.
Convenience has nothing to do with it.
It is clear that you want to accumulate several added epsiodes if they were added at once, or at least shortly after another.
However, in order for the “Recently Added Episodes” hub to be useful, you often might want to see which episode has been added recently.
Which wouldn’t be possible if the hub would always accumulate episodes under the season or show poster.
So a time threshold had to be defined, which decides when it is appropriate to accumulate and when it is not anymore.
