I’m not sure if this happened in the latest build or one prior to that, but the image used for the blurred background on Movie & TV info pages has changed. It previously was a blurred version of the poster art, that meant the colours were consistent. If there was blues in the poster image, the background was bluish. Now the blurred background is from the fan art wallpapers… so for a lot of items the colours clash.
This is a part of a bigger annoyance I have with how fan art is used in the Plex ecosystem. Every time I think I have Plex’s direction figured out and all my fan art changed to match it, they change it. Since the Apple TV had previously only used fan art in the Continue Watching and Top Shelf areas, I went ahead and added images with the title of the movie or show. Similar to how Netflix’s Top Shelf looks on the main ATV screen. So I didn’t pay any attention to consistency of colour, which I previously did when I used other clients.
I have never understood why people want unblurred background images behind information text, it makes text hard to read and it just looks messy. So the blurred approach is the right one, but the apps been out 2 years now and suddenly the change. Why?you can expect us to keep changing artwork on the random whims of the developers.
