I am about to completely uninstall Plex and go elsewhere. MANY users have been complaining for YEARS and Plex admins keep saying the fix is coming in the next update and it NEVER DOES!
-When pressing the skip button, it skips more than one song
-good luck trying to back track to a previous track, it will stay on the current track forever
-the app seems to constantly close, needing to re-open it again. It’s like it doesn’t remember it is open, causing issues with the progress time bar to be stuck while songs are playing.
-Multiple instances of the app open at once causing issues with the app.
Seriously buggy as hell. I was gonna buy a Plex Pass, but no way, not until this is fixed.
That should not even be possible under normal circumstances. There is something definite wrong if this is happening.
I’ve never seen anyone report this so this is new and likely the cause of your other issues. Are you using on devices that have been rooted, using a custom ROM, or non-verified Google device (i.e. no Google Play Store)?
I can certainly agree with some of this behavior on the Android TV apps.
The Next Track of Previous Track buttons are definitely unreliable, and so is the manual track selection. Both methods may or may not actually select the next track, or may even just re-select the current track, or maybe it will select 2 tracks ahead.
This inconsistent behavior is consistent on both the Shield 2019 Pro and my Sony XH95, and has been for as long as I have owned these devices, which is since December 2020.
Both of my devices have recently had the Android TV > Google TV Home screen layout changes, so they are both bang up to date, and yet the buggy behavior continues.
There also seems to be a lack of ability to view lyrics, which is one of the reasons I bought the Lifetime pass some years ago.
Hi ! Got the same issues with my Android system… And now, since one month or maybe more, same goes with the web app ! And only for music streaming, no problem with my video files so far… I thought I was the only one experiencing this…
And I’ve got a Plex pass for 4 years now…
Nvidia shield user here and this has indeed been broken for many many months.
Manually selecting tracks most of the time breaks the playback completely and will act like something is playing but is completely silent and makes the app unresponsive.
This has been reported many times and Plex ignores it. No idea why they are ignoring it or acknowledging the fault but they are.
It is highly unprofessional and leaves a sour taste in the mouth when I usually love Plex.
Wouldn’t surprise me if the mindset is more “just use PlexAmp to play music” so it never gets fixed in the main program but that is not an option when using Android TV like the shield. I have a good sound system hooked up to the TV and shield so I want to enjoy listening to music through it but can’t reliably.
Sort this out Plex. Numerous posts here and Reddit that explain the issue and nothing gets done.
i’ve had the same issue using Plex with Android Auto. The app drops the playlist every time i turn of my vehicle so i’ve got to start the play list over again. If i just use a wireless connection to my vehicle, Plex doesn’t rotate the track info from song to song without me manually restarting the song playing. Also, it will randomly stop playing and i’ll have to reboot my phone. Plex on a mobile device is buggy as hell and really frustrating.
The Android app forgetting it’s playing has always been a problem; like the service isn’t registered properly and the life cycle trashes it. Overall the remote player is the weakest part of the Plex ecosystem; would be nice if the synced files were accessible to other apps and not locked in the package’s private data store. Then we could use other apps to do the playing and Plex to do the syncing. Seems like the only way to get that is to contribute ourselves and hey Android Studio is free, right?
