Will Plex remove the download option from the 1-Time Payment option on Android?

So currently I was preparing for a trip and wanted to download some of my media on my phone, I bought the 1-TimePayment for the Android app to unlock downloads and it works and worked with the old sync option flawlessly.
But then I saw they are planning to remove sync and introduce a new downloads option. So thought I will try that, but I can’t alter the maximum storage toggle and it doesn’t allow me to download files with that “preview” enabled.

So now my question, is PLEX trying to eventually lock old buyers out of a functionality they payed for ?

If so then I kind of feel ripped off.
If not please anyone recommend a solution for that then bug.

Please note that the 1-time activation did not unlock the previous Sync feature. If you were able to use Sync before, it was because the server you were accessing had a Plex Pass themselves so you were allowed to Sync from them. If this was your own server, I’m not sure how you did it as that should not have worked.

Since it has been some time, what did I then unlock with that 1 time purchase ?
I didn’t find any reliable information.
And how does sync differ from download, on the same sever running the latest Plex Server version, that it won’t work anymore(Sync works, Downloads don’t.). (The Server is run by close friend who has the Plex Pass, I myself don’t have the Pass.)

Does the new downloads feature then limited it on the user side as well unlike the sync Version did, or is that a bug and unwanted behavior ?

The one-time activation is to unlock the mobile app which isn’t free. It doesn’t include any Plex Pass features.

Mobile sync depended on the server admin having a Plex Pass and enabling this for individual users with whom they shared their media.
The FAQ link above explains how this will change once Plex fully replaces mobile sync with the new download feature

You can find more info on the Downloads at Sync is Dead (almost). Long Live Downloads!. See the support articles mentioned at the bottom of the first comment.

Downloads is currently in opt-in for Plex Pass users or members of Plex Home (where admin has a Plex Pass). You will be able to try Downloads from your friend’s server once the feature is public.
