Will viewers be able to turn closed captions on or off?

This is my first post, and I hope that I am posting this topic in the appropriate area of the forum. I will understand if it is moved to another area.

My apologies for this simple question that I know has been addressed, probably many times. But, my search results still don’t give me a firm answer to the following. I’ve read of separate files for subtitles, so I’m confused and concerned that I may not be doing things correctly.

I’ve begun ripping my Movie DVDs with MakeMKV anticipating putting them on my Plex server. In MakeMKV’s window, in addition to the movie I’m checking all audio and subtitles for English. (English is the primary language of all family members that will be accessing my server.) Of course, there is just one MKV file resulting from the rip - which has closed captions embedded. When I use VLC Player to confirm the ripped file plays correctly, it allows me to turn closed captions on or off.

My concern is when family members began to view the movies with Plex Media Server, will they also be able to also turn closed captioning on or off as I can in the VLC Player?

Yes.

Before playback, user may choose from the pre-play screen.

During playback, pull up the playback settings to choose.
