I’ve done a little searching and I can’t seem to find anything on the subject, so I was wondering if someone could send a little knowledge my way. I hadn’t really used playlists in the past but I recently got all my star wars movies and tv shows on plex and thought it would be cool to have them all in a chronological order so I added them all to a playlist in order. I was hoping I’d be able to change the the cover for said playlist to just a star wars logo instead of the different movie/show covers but I there doesn’t seem to be an option for that or a work around that I can find. So I guess my question is will there ever be more customizable playlist options? Possibly even a “resume where left off” option in case I don’t want to spend the 3 days and 22 hours to watch it all in one sitting?
I hope i’m posting this in the right category and not just totally missing something! I would love to hear your ideas or tips/tricks on the subject!
you should be looking into collections… that’s going to allow a lot of what you’re looking for.
since the recent updates, you’re able to show collections “in-line” with your movies. so instead of each individual star wars movie you could have 1 item with its own description and poster. by clicking on the collection you’ll have access to all related movies (sorted by [sort] title or release date).
Here’s an example from the Plex documentation showing a Star Wars collection pre-play screen. This also shows how you can have cross-library collections (main movies on top, below the “related” items in a tv show collection).
however… there’s no “resume where left off” function. Except you add the entire collection to the “play next” queue (however you can do that also with the regular playlists).
