I run plex server on a win10 . I recorded some TV programs over the air. When I watch the TV programs using plex player on a Fire TV stick, I noticed the plex server transcode the TV programs from 1080i to 1080p. Why is that necessary? The TV is perfectly capable of displaying 1080i material. Wouldn’t it be more efficient to have the server source the original 1080i to Fire TV stick and let TV display the shows in 1080i?
