Windows 10 Desktop app does not go into fullscreen when playing media

Server Version#: Version 1.18.9.2578
Player Version#: Version 1.30.1.2115-81e1fc3f

Not sure what else to add, after the last windows app update I can’t make the player go into fullscreen mode without pausing the media first then go fullscreen and then continue playing.

If you do click our double click to go fullscreen while playing media the player does not really go full screen it just maximizes and the start bar still sticks out from windows itself

Same Issue here, same player version

Same problem here

I can’t make that happen.

It doesn’t matter if I click the arrows to go full screen, or double click before or during playback, this is what I see:

It’s full screen and the transparent task bar is hidden. <—I even have the task bar set to never collapse and the player covers it up.

… am I not doing something right?

Same Version - and this isn’t the Windows Store App or Plex Media Player it is Plex for Windows.

I have the exact same problem. Clicking on the fullscreen button does nothing.

Version 1.30.1.2115-81e1fc3f

Exact same issue, even went and uninstalled and reinstalled. still doing the same.

Same issue as original post. If video playback is not paused, you can’t go into full-screen. The app will have the title bar allowing you to maximize/restore the app. If the video is paused however, when you click full-screen, it’ll go into full-screen mode. It’s only a bug when video is playing.

Again - I can’t make it happen.
Everything I do - Every way I try - it just works.

I can reproduce behaviour from OP on both Intel (i5 8400) and AMD (5600x) platforms.

Plex for Windows 1.30.1.2115-81e1fc3f, server: 1.22.3.4392 (Raspberry).

Just installed 1.31.0.2254-43df1e6e and the problem is still there.
While in the main menu or when paused, the full screen button works, but while playing a video it does not.

I’m investigating.

Thank you @JuiceWSA for trying to reproduce too.

I see some slow UI update but haven’t had trouble entering fullscreen during playback. Here’s a video showing the steps I tested: 20210423_133402.mp4 - Google Drive

  • Are these steps accurate? If not will someone please describe what’s different?
  • Tight logs may provide some guidance
    • Restart Plex for Windows
    • Immediately play a video then attempt to enter fullscreen during playback
    • Curse at it for not working then exit Plex for Windows
    • Finally attach only %LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex\Logs\Plex.log

Thanks a lot for input on test steps and log files.

I’ve been having the same problem for a while now.
I’ve tried all sorts. Media Player and HTPC are fine (NOW)

Plex Media Server.1.log (72.0 KB)

Plex.log (140.4 KB)

Same problem here, Ryzen 3900x, RTX 3080.
Thanks.

Same problem too. Ryzen 3700x/RTX 3080 on latest Win10 update, latest Plex for Win10. Player window does not go into full screen mode at all and the controls are extremely laggy.

This problem occurs for me when General > Keep Plex on top of windows is set to During playback, or Always. If I switch back to Never it behaves, with During playback it only goes fullscreen when the video isn’t playing, and with Always it never goes full screen

Same here, while “keep on top” is turned on it will not actually expand to FS, when it’s turned off, it will go FS.

Yep - I can confirm that is what is happening. Mine was set to Never.
