Windows 10 on Arm64 support

Any plans for a Windows 10 arm64 version ofPlex Media Player?

Not to my knowledge.

Where do you get a version of Windows10 that runs on ARM? It could be cool on a Pi4 regardless of Plex.

The Windows Store shows an ARM version, but it says “currently unavailable”. However, it has a “redeem code” button that I would think would get Plex Pass subscribers access. I am going to reach out to support.

The Surface Pro X runs ARM64

Another Surface Pro X user here. It’s a great device, one that could support a top notch plex experience. Please recompile for Windows 10 ARM64.

Native ARM64 support would be awesome. Edge Canary shows how amazing this device can be when optimised for it. Please compile for it!

I’d love to see a native Win10 ARM build of this. Running Plex within Edge is OK, but having a native build would be great on the Surface Pro X

+1 to wanting ARM client support!

With Microsoft pushing the Windows 10 ARM for mainstream use with the release of the Surface Pro X and licensing it for use by other vendors (Currently supportd systems from Lenovo, HP, and Samsung), I would agree (and wish for) a native Windows 10 ARM edition. I have units from all 4 manufacturers (I have been testing them for deployment at my job). I would love the ability to access my Plex Library on it and have local playback options.

Actually I did already reply to this but I’ll clarify as to why this is important to me.

In my (potentially warped) mind, there are “computers” and then there are “endpoint consumption devices”. Apple (ios and TV) technically is an endpoint-type device because you can’t necessarily load up all of Apple’s ecosystem to it, it only allows very walled-garden applications into the platform. But since there is a Plex app for it, it’s good to use.

Now when you get into handheld, portable devices it gets a little tricky. I can’t take a Windows-ARM device with Plex onto a plane, because I can’t download media. That’s it. There are web-based hacks that function badly for live, raw consumption of your library, but no ability for offline viewing on ARM. That’s a huge setback for me, and honestly when it comes to tablets, a big big deal. It’s funny to me that being able to run Office and being able to offline Plex, music, entertainment – those two generalized things are critical for mobile computing. Right now I use a Surface Go, but I would seriously consider a Pro X if there was better ARM support. (That screen …!)

It’s ironic to me that ARM development seems to be the biggest detractor to people adopting the platform – if developers like Plex don’t make an app for ARM, then people like me won’t buy the hardware, and if we don’t buy the hardware, developers won’t be compelled to write for it and support it. Well, I AM a supporter of Plex, and I WOULD use the ARM version.

And yes, it bothers me that an iPad can be used in this context better than ARM on Windows, but the Office viability is lackluster.

ARM seems to be a good alternative to the big-chip vendors and I’d like to see more native support.

Any updates on this? So nice to have the updated app on xbox, would be nice to recompile it for Windows 10 on ARM64 for this shiny Surface Pro X SQ2 :frowning:

Just adding my two cents. Loving my new Surface Pro X and having a native arm64 app for Plex would be amazing.

Another Surface Pro X user looking forward to this support. It seems both Apple and Windows are now committed to ARM64 for future generations.

Another Surface Pro X user. Please enable ARM64 support.

Another Galaxy Book S user. Please add ARM64 support for the Windows app.
