Windows 10 plex media server not found on PC even though running in task bar

I’ve paid for a subscription, running plex media server locally on my desktop pc, on the same machine, browser client can’t see server. Please help. I write software for a living, I’m not retarded, this makes no sense.

can you access the Plex Server via the browser?
e.g. on the same machine using https://127.0.0.1:32400/web or from another computer in your network via https://your-pms-ip-address@32400/web. or via https://app.plex.tv/desktop (online)

Your server might use a different plex.tv account than your web browser.
Mitigate it with: https://support.plex.tv/articles/204281528-why-am-i-locked-out-of-server-settings-and-how-do-i-get-in/

Thank you both for the response, I know I didn’t give a lot to go off of here. When accessing https://127.0.0.1:32400/web I have an endless “Looking for servers” spinner. Under devices, the plex server is not listed. Plex media server is running in the system tray, so it should show up in devices at that point, right? I’ve re-installed and tried multiple versions of the server over the past 3 months but nothing seems to work.

Also, I can see plex media server running in task manager, and have verified windows firewall rules aren’t preventing something from working.

I stand by my recommendation above.

I have no idea how this happened, but you have solved my woes friend. Thank you.

Now it seems the issue is that “claiming” my desktop server then immediately makes the server unreachable. Clearing out the registry keys makes the server visible again.

Shutdown Plex server with the tray icon (right-click)
unzip the attached .reg file nosecureconns.zip (363 Bytes) (unzip first) and double-click it
import the settings into the registry
reboot your Windows

Is it now working?
If so, you might have an issue with DNS or ‘DNS rebinding protection’
