Windows 11 and my TV shows

I had Plex server running on Windows 10 and all was working just fine. My system crashed and I had to purchase a new one. On startup Microsoft forced an upgrade to Windows 11 on the new system. Not what I wanted but it is what it is. Installed Plex server and added my movies with no real problems. But when I tried to load my TV shows they won’t locate any of the shows information. Naming format is the same as used in Windows 10 and what Plex has in their instructions. Anyone else had this issue?

Can you provide a screenshot of your file explorer with those files? perform a file scan, wait 5 minutes after it finishes and then post your server logs?

Plex DocsYour MediaNaming & Organizing TV Shows

Rename per Plex documentation, then Plex Dance the show.

/TV Shows/Scandal (2012)/Season 01/Scandal (2012) s01e01 Sweet Baby.m4v

Edit: It is hard to tell from the logs, but it looks like you might be mixing movies and TV shows.

D:\Movies\Action\12 Strong (2018).m4v
D:\Movies\TV Shows\Scandal\Season 01\Sweet Baby - s01e01.m4v

Plex does not support mixing TV shows and movies in the same library.

To use the above structure, you cannot add D:\Movies to any Plex library. You would have to add D:\Movies\Action to the movie library and D:\Movies\TV Shows to the TV Show library.

Consider keeping TV Shows in a separate directory, such as D:\Movies and D:\TV Shows.

^^^^^ This, by putting the episode title at the front, and not including the show name plex has no clue what you want.

The Scandal folder has 7 season in it and they all are different years so how would that work?

Whoops. Typo. Missed the Season 01, etc folder. Fixed.

I dont follow the naming 100% (and if it breaks Ill fix it) but Thats my format.

I include 2012 because TVDB does: Scandal (2012) - TheTVDB.com

The year for all the seasons is 2012. They only look for the shows creation date.

There are other shows named Scandal from 2008, 2013 ect… it could get matched incorrectly with.

Thanks I changed the file name to:

/TV Shows/Scandal/Season 01/Scandal (2012) s01e01 Sweet Baby.m4v

That worked. They must has change the name format since I first added them last year.

Add the year to the show folder as well. It helps when there are multiple shows by the same or similar name (spinoffs, reboots, etc).

Take a look at Tiny Media Manager. I’ve used the free version to rename a few hundred movies. It was much faster than doing so manually. It also supports TV shows, so might help with your renaming.

The standard naming schema hasn’t changed in ~10 years. However support for nonstandard formatting has been dropped over time to reduce the code complexity and improve matching accuracy.
